Andy Brightbill, youth pastor at the Grace Brethren Church of Lititz, PA, was recently honored by CE National. The following tribute, as passed along this week by Lititz senior pastor Scott Distler, was written by T.K. Kurtaneck of the CE National staff.
Each year, Operation Barnabas teams give out awards to deserving individuals. The Roger Ward Memorial Award is presented each year to the individual who partners with the teens and their adult leaders and models excellence in ministry.
This award is in honor of Roger Ward–a man who loved young people and loved to serve who is now with Jesus. Every OB alumni has heard the story of how Roger gave of his own personal means to keep the 1979 Southern California Operation Barnabas team on the road through his own vehicles and providing fuel for their tour.
The 2005 recipient of this award is Andy Brightbill, Pastor of Student Ministries at Grace Church in Lititz, Pennsylvania.
Andy was the one responsible for the coordination of OB orientation at the church. He arranged meals through the ABF classes, connected CE National with the Warwick School District for showers, provided transportation for OBI to Philadelphia and was the main “go-to” guy for the entire time OB was at Grace Church.
We are grateful for the ministry spirit and diligent efforts of this man and are pleased to be able to give this award in honor of his efforts on the behalf of all who participated on Operation Barnabas 2005.
