Betty Poyner, shown here with her husband Randy when they visited their son, Tim, and his family in Winona Lake, IN, earlier this summer, is recovering from unexpected surgery and will appreciate the prayers of the Fellowship for her recovery.
Last Friday, August 12, Betty had a malignant, football-sized tumor removed from her abdomen. Doctors felt it must have been fast-growing because she wasn’t uncomfortable nor had any symptoms three weeks prior.
She came through the surgery well; the doctors were pleased that it seemed to be contained, except for some tentacles reaching into one kidney and the bladder.
Betty will be released from St Vincent’s in Jacksonville, Florida, today or tomorrow. Since all the pathology is not back yet, the doctors have not decided on what course of treatment she will have.
Gladys Deloe talked with Betty this morning and reports, “She’s handling this very well. A big prayer concern is insurance, since the Home Health Agency she ran for the last 15 years was just sold to another company and in two weeks, she’ll be unemployed. Please pray for God’s gracious provision of the continuing treatments for both of them.” Their mailing address is 50 Bud Hollow Drive, Palm Coast, Florida 32134-9475.
The Poyners are well-known in the Fellowship as Randy has served in music and pastoring and counseling in a number of places. Randy, also, has been the subject of intensive prayer the last several years as he has dealt with a blood disease resulting in stem-cell transplant therapy.
