Gateway Church, a Grace Brethren congregation in Parkesburg, Pa., is in the running to wind a set of in-ear monitors for their worship team. Renee Marshall, administrative assistant at the church, explains:
We Are Worship is running a contest for churches to win in-ear monitors for their worship teams. The winner of the “individual” round will win one set of in-ears, and the winner of the “band” round will win 5 sets of in-ear monitors. They would be helpful in cleaning up the sound on the stage, and they allow the individual musician to control what he/she is hearing through their own monitor.
The rules were that each person/band had to do an acoustic cover (no electric instruments, except you could use a keyboard on the piano setting) of Lincoln Brewster’s “There is Power.” You’re not allowed to use any effects or processing – just a straight performance.
The winner is chosen by weighing viewer votes (25%) and judges points (75%) and the contest ends this Saturday.
We just uploaded our video yesterday so we’ve got some catching up to do as far as votes!
