Grace Brethren Boys, a ministry for young men in the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches, is sponsoring its first Timothy Adventure this week. Rob Gable, executive director, sent us this report:
Timothy Adventure (TA) is a special leadership development trip planned every four years for committed young men who have shown potential as future leaders within the ministry. The focused purpose of the trip is to challenge young men, especially spiritually, reward our select group of young men who have shown leadership gifts, to intentionally foster future leadership, and impress upon our young men the need to leave a godly legacy to the next generation.
This is our first TA trip. We’re excited to have been able to partner with Pastor Chris Ball and Dimond Grace Fellowship in Anchorage, Alaska. They have welcomed us with open hearts and we’ve seen so many travel and tourism mercies because of their work.
During the 12-day trip, the young men will be working on FamilyLife’s Stepping Up series. We want to impress upon the young men that it is time to leave the ways of their youth behind and work toward a godly legacy. Our focus verses for the week are GBB’s foundational passage, 2 Timothy 2:1-2 and 1 Peter 5:8-9. The 2 Timothy passage reminds us that we need to be strong in the faith and lead others through their leadership, discipling as we go. The 1 Peter passage reminds us (especially our young men) that Satan is looking for that weak prey that has become separated from the godly influences in their life. Then they should be encouraged knowing that they are not in this spiritual war by their self.
We have seen and experienced so much in just the first 24 hours!
