Paul Mutchler, pastor of the Grace Brethren Church, Lanham, Md., has sent word of the death of Jacqueline “Jackie” Pinkard, a long-time member of the church. Her obituary appears below.
Jacqueline “Jackie” Pinkard a life-long member and leader at Grace Brethren Church of Lanham, Md., formerly First Brethren of Washington, D.C., went to be with her Lord on August 6, 2014. Saved as child, she was encouraged to serve the Lord fully by example in her strong Christian family. As a youth she played the piano for Sunday School assemblies and prayer meeting. In high school she began training to become the substitute organist.
After graduating from Grace College with a major in music education with a concentration in voice and additional studies in piano and organ, she became the backup organist and choir pianist in 1966 at the downtown Washington, DC 12th and E campus. She became the main organist in 1969 and directed the choir through Christmas 2013.
Jackie served on the building committee for our present building in 1972. She and her husband, Gene, served on the committee that founded Lanham Christian School in 1977. In addition, she developed the original praise team that continues to serve at Grace Church.
She scheduled all our music, taught VBS for ten years, was an active encourager/participant in WMC and now Women of Grace women’s ministry for 40+ years and has been the Chesapeake District NAC Coordinator since 1994 to present. She has been a mentor especially through music her entire time. Jackie served as Music Adjudicator at BNYC/Momentum for several decades. She has glorified the Lord for over 50 years serving/leading/encouraging. She and her husband, Gene were double honored with the Faithfulness Award from C.E. National in 2013.
