West Kittanning Church Distributing Free Thanksgiving Meals Saturday
A church Thanksgiving tradition is becoming a community Thanksgiving feast this weekend.
From 4-6PM in Kittanning Riverfront Park, Grace Brethren Church volunteers will distribute Thanksgiving meals to any local resident.
Katie Stolitza, of Worthington, made the suggestion to her fellow parishioners.
“For as long as I can remember, our church has always done a big Thanksgiving dinner for the congregation and their friends and family (but) this year, they really didn’t have anybody that wanted to head it up so I said I’d be willing to head it up if I could do things a little bit differently,” Stolitza said. “I wanted the church to take the meals to the community.”
Grace Christian School students, local businesses and non-profits and local residents have already offered to help with food and distribution. For example, Grace Christian home economics students will bake cookies and art students will make cards
