Waynesboro’s Summer Jubilee drives forward despite afternoon rain
…Swart said Waynesboro Area Senior High School students and teachers made wooden toss games, which will allow the committee to save $250 a year on rentals. Additionally, high school football players and cheerleaders gathered donations from visitors, and volunteers from Operation Barnabas manned craft tables that would typically require additional rentals.
Operation Barnabas is a summer ministry program in which teenagers travel the country to demonstrate their passion for God, others, the lost and full-time ministry, according to Tim Clothier, pastor of Waynesboro’s Grace Brethren Church.
Twenty-three students are staying in the church and with local families as they help at the Summer Jubilee festival.
“As a church, we want to be in our community and want to be where the people are,” Clothier said. “This is the perfect opportunity.” …
