On June 7, 2015, Grace Community Church of Frederick. Md., celebrated the ordination of Pastor Scott Avey. Scott joined the staff at GCC as a Worship Pastor in June of 2012 and recently completed his studies leading to ordination, which includes written and oral exams for the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches.
Scott graduated from Grace College in Indiana in 2003 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education Degree. After serving as a Worship Leader in Ashland, Ohio for five years, Scott returned to Grace College and Seminary and received a Master of Ministry degree in 2011. Scott has more than 10 years of experience leading successful worship programs with congregations of 60-2000 people. Using his skills in creative programming, worship leading, worship technologies, singing, rhythm guitar, drums, bass, and keyboards, Scott passionately serves the church body at Grace. His passion is equip musicians to use their gifting at Grace.
“Jesus has changed my life,” Scott shared. “He is worth serving and His church is worth giving my life too. The ordination process is to submit one’s self to peers to examine life and doctrine. This was an important step as I am committed to serving the church of Jesus where ever he would have me serve.”
Grace Community Church is part of the Grace Brethren Fellowship and has been serving the community in Frederick County since 1985. Located at 5102 Old National Pike in Frederick, the church offers two contemporary services at 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. each Sunday.
