Donna Melody, a member of Grace Community Church, Seal Beach, Calif. (Steve Williams, pastor) has received presidential recognition for her long volunteerism at Interval House, a program for women escaping abuse.
Her honor was highlighted in the April 9, 2015, issue of the Sun Newspapers (see image below). The article quotes Interval House Executive Director Carol Williams: “All of the staff and graduates who have been lucky enough to know Donna throughout these years hold her up in the highest regard.
She has been a role model to all of us, and we have never met a more incredible mother, grandmother, wife or loving supporter to her friends and loved ones,” she noted, stressing that Melody shared not only her time and her wisdom, but also her heart.
According to Melody, her grandmother had been an abused woman back when that wasn’t talked about. “People need to understand that it can happen to anybody,” she said.
Melody has been involved in Interval House by providing critical accounting support and in advisory roles that helped further the organization’s mission. Today, she is an executive board member.
