Grace Brethren girls soccer falls in regional final
CERRITOS >> Sammi Fisher’s high school soccer career will forever be synonymous with the legacy of excellence she left at Grace Brethren. Even in the final seconds with her team down by one goal, the Notre Dame signee’s effort never waned. She remained confident.
In the end, her goal in the 48th minute was the only offense Grace Brethren mustered Saturday afternoon in a 2-1 loss to Cerritos Valley Christian in the CIF State Division V Southern California Regional final.
It was the third season in a row that Grace (21-6-1) made it to the Regional title game only to come up empty handed. It was the second time in a week the team fell to Valley Christian, which knocked it off last Saturday in the CIF-SS Division 6 final.
“It was tough losing twice,” Fisher said. “It just stinks that things didn’t go our way.”
Sophomore midfielder Kennedy Wesley haunted Grace Brethren for the second week in a row, scoring both goals for the Crusaders after scoring two in last week’s Southern Section final.
