Transfer student Zikel Reddick has connected as an athlete and student at Grace Brethren High School in Simi Valley, Calif. (The school is a ministry of the Grace Brethren Church in Simi Valley, where Jordan Bakker is the pastor.) A story in the Simi Valley Acorn tells the story. A portion of the story appears below. Grace Brethren, Reddick lift each other
Patrice Stokley wanted her son to thrive academically and athletically.
Grace Brethren High was the right fit for her son, Zikel Reddick, a New York native.
“Back home, the classes were too big, and he was kind of getting swallowed up by his grades,” Stokley said. “The plan was to go out here, give him a smaller class size, and get him more focused in a school where he could do what he liked doing.”
What the 6-foot, 198-pound junior likes doing is running—on football and track and field teams. Reddick starred at Riverhead High in Long Island before transferring to Grace Brethren this summer.
Reddick and the Lancers have connected.
“Zikel’s a special player, and we knew that the second he walked through the door,” Grace Brethren football head coach Josh Henderson said. “He’s very raw, but extremely talented. He really is an outstanding young man.”
In his first five games as a Lancer, Reddick has rushed for 753 yards and seven touchdowns.
