Outlook: Grace Brethren had just participated in its final walkthrough before the CIF Southern Section East Valley Division final when the news broke.
The CIF-SS ousted Grace Brethren from the championship game for using an ineligible player, forcing the Lancers to forfeit to Saddleback Valley Christian.
“It was horrible,” Grace Brethren quarterback Nick Juels said. “It was the worst feeling. I wish they would’ve let us play. The not knowing how it would have all turned out was tough. We had worked so hard all season, and now we didn’t have a chance to see how it would have finished.”
