To my son
Just a few words, thoughts, I want to share with you as you get ready to step into becoming a leader in faith. I think one of the most important lessons to learn is that your actions truly do speak louder than words, people are always going to be watching you, and many of them will have made a judgement of you before they even talk to you. So be sure to live what you believe.
And in keeping with that same train of thought, have a solid foundation and keep strengthening that foundation by being in the word and by being in a constant state of communication with God, by opening your mind and heart to hear and understand the quiet whisperings of the Holy Spirit.
I would also tell you to listen, and by listen, I mean not only listen with your ears, but listen with your heart, hear what is not being said, or they want to say but can’t. Too many of us will just listen long enough to hear what we want to hear, then we tune out. Remember, two ears, one mouth.
And lastly I would encourage you to never stop learning, never be afraid to ask questions. Never be afraid to admit that you don’t know something, but be wise in the sources you choose to help you in finding those answers, in the people you go to, to be a mentor to you.
Trust and listen to God, he will always lead you in the right direction.
Keep the faith
