The following news note appeared in this morning’s Akron (OH) Beacon-Journal:
Akron woman helps `Operation Adoption’
Belinda Barton, 46, has lived in Akron for more than 30 years, but travels to Gulfport, Miss., often to visit family.
So she’s donating her time to assist “Operation Adoption,” which will deliver two truckloads of supplies to Gulfport in the next week.
Barton said she believes government authorities and relief organizations have neglected Gulfport.
Barton said volunteers are looking for donations of gas cards to use for the long trip.
Michelle Edwards, a truck driver from Norton, started Operation Adoption. Her church, Grace Brethren on Cleveland-Massillon Road in Norton, is helping.
