The Central Focus Retreat wound up this morning (Wednesday) as Matt Wheelock, of the Association of Grace Brethren Ministers, unveiled the standardized ordination process that the organization is recommending to be used by local churches and districts in the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches.
While the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches is a fellowship, not a denomination, a high value is placed on the local church and its autonomy. The districts provide a service to the local church by examining men who are interested in serving as a pastor for individual bodies of believers.
The process provides a framework for not only evaluating an individual theologically, but helps access their ministerial skill, and personal and ministry relationships.
The Focus Retreat is the first of five regional gatherings for Grace Brethren pastors and leaders. The next retreat will be held at Ocean City, Md., on October 16-18. For more information about this retreat, click here.
