Word has been received of the death of Alice Holmes, wife of Robert F. Holmes, who pastored the Grace Brethren Church in Homerville, Ohio, for many years. Her obituary appears below.
Alice E. Holmes, 94, of West Salem, Ohio, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Burbank Parke Care Center.
Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 6 at Noon at Grace Brethren Church, 8992 Firestone Road, Homerville, Ohio, with Pastors Reid A. Firestone and Bob Combs officiating. Burial will be in Fair Haven Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Ashland, Ohio,
the daughter of Clyde and Vera (Baker) Scobey, and was a 1939 graduate of Lorain High School. In 1943, she graduated from the National Bible Institute in New York.
She was a homemaker all her life, and had taught Bible in Southern Ashland County and piano lessons. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church of Homerville, where she played the organ for many years, was choir director, taught Sunday school, and was an active member of WMC.
Surviving are her husband, Robert F. Holmes, whom she married Aug. 24, 1946; and a son, Donald Holmes of Cutler, Ohio.
Her parents, two infant daughters, a brother, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, died previously.
