Pray for the Dave and Sue Knight and Greg and Cari Serafino families and Osceola, Ind., Grace Church today following the sudden death of Knight’s son, Andrew, and the injury of Serafino’s son-in-law, Alex Jones, in an automobile accident yesterday.
The two were returning from a leadership retreat for the coaches of the Osceola Grace Eagles football team. The accident happened near Lafayette, Ind.
“Andrew was the Chaplain, as well as the defensive line coach for the club and their 6th grade son plays in the junior high part of the program,” Susan says. “The coaches were holding a leadership retreat for varsity players and coaches at Turkey Run State Park. Andrew tripped and hurt himself pretty badly Saturday morning and after a trip to the ER requiring 4 stitches it was determined he should come home early. The Serafino’s son-in-law Alex was driving him home when the accident occurred. Our understanding is that Andrew was ushered into heaven instantly upon impact and Alex was thrown from the vehicle.”
Susan says that pray for prayers for comfort and understanding are truly appreciated. “His wife, Danny, and three young children (ages 11, 8, and 3) are left to carve out a new and different life without him.”
Andrew once served as youth pastor at the Grace Brethren Church, Lanham, Md., serving under then-pastor Paul Mutchler. He had just had a successful kidney transplant in April and was recovering well. “Dave and I were married 12 years before Andrew was born and shortly after birth, we knew he had kidney problems,” Sue shares. “We have always known he was ‘on loan’ to us from the Lord and continuously rejoiced at his faith and trust in God. While we always knew it, we never dreamed this would be part of God’s plan.”
