Jack Brown, executive director of Grow New England, a Grace Brethren church planting endeavor in the Northeast, has sent his May newsletter. In it he reports:
On Saturday, April 8 we had over 40 children from the community come to our Danvers location to our “Make Your Own Easter Basket” event. The following weekend we received an enthusiastic welcome in downtown Danvers while we gave out six dozen Easter Bags. In Essex, we did a targeted mailing to over 900 households. At the Easter Breakfast in Essex, there were over 50 in attendance. We are praising God for these opportunities.
Our overall attendance in Essex and Danvers was 122 on Palm Sunday and 133 on Easter Sunday, both all-time highs. On Easter Sunday there were 58 in attendance in Danvers. On a normal Sunday, we only set up 59 chairs. We’re looking forward to an exciting spring and summer of ministry here on Boston’s north shore.
Please be in prayer as we are in discussion with a young man and his family about relocating to the area and partnering with us in ministry. This will be a huge step of faith for everyone, especially this young family. We will be seeking to raise a portion of his salary. Pray that we will be able to discern God’s direction in this matter.
Also, pray for a larger and more centrally located meeting space for our Danvers’ congregation. We believe this will help us have greater visibility in the community, along with giving us flexibility in our programming.
