Jimmy McAllister, 6, from the York, Pennsylvania, Grace Brethren Church, is off to a good start in the literary world.
Recently Jimmy, who started Kindergarten this year, was notified that his illustrated book entry, “Letters to Max: Letters Home to my Dog Max from Vacation in the Outer Banks,” was awarded first-place (with a $100 first-place prize) in the 7-and-under category at the town’s YorkFest activities. In addition, his short story, entitled “My Day at Hershey Park,” received a third-place award.
Jimmy read a page from his book at the awards ceremony on Saturday, August 26. He received congratulations and a handshake from the mayor of York.
Dan White, pastor of the York church, said, “Jimmy worked very hard this summer on his entries and has been counting down the days to receiving his awards!”
