Word has been received of the death of Becky Shank, mother of Andy Shank, church planter with SEEDnet. She had came to Christ through Andy’s witness almost 10 years ago. The SEEDnet blog tells more: “Since then her motto has been: ‘I’m finally alive!’ On her death bed, as she suffered from ALS, she witnessed to her unbelieving family. She couldn’t talk anymore so she had to spell out her words. She called the family together around her bed and spelled out: ‘find Jesus’!” Her obituary appears below.
Becky Jean Shank, 56, of Ashland, died Monday January 26 at The Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Becky was born July 23, 1958 in Ashland to Robert Sr. and Norma Jean (Gaddis) Bowersock.
She graduated from Ashland High School in 1977. She married Randall Shank on October 4, 1980.
She worked for King Lanes and then Brethren Care. She was a member of Eastgate Bible Church, in Ashland. She enjoyed camping and loving her grandkids.
Becky will be deeply missed by her husband; children Bethia Shank, Andy (Kimberly) Shank, Abigail (Bert) Coram all of Ashland; grandchildren Gavin, Gariss, Takiah, Aubree, Brandilynn, Trevor, Nehemiah; mother Norma Jean (Bowersock) Baker; brothers Robert Jr. (Christina) Bowersock, Jeffery (Karen) Bowersock; sister Carol (Brent Sr.) Schoonover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Becky was preceded in death by her father; sister, Vickie Wittman; and step-father, Harold Baker.
Funeral services were held Friday, January at 11 at Grace Brethren Church, West Main St., Ashland, Ohio, with Pastors Jim Norris, Andy Shank, and Nathan Wells officiating.
