SANTA ANA, CA (ANS) — Thomas “Ed” Steele, a veteran of Christian broadcasting in the United States, died September 12 in Santa Ana, California.
President and Founder of the Ed Steele Agency, he was a great supporter of Israel, to which he traveled scores of times. An ordained Baptist minister, he founded Creative Communications, Inc., a broadcast consultancy and full-service advertising agency, in 1977. He has built, managed and owned radio stations in California and elsewhere.
A longtime member of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), Steele worked with Radio Bible Class to develop the Day of Discovery TV program. In his later years, Steele played a leading role with Hope for Today, the radio ministry of Grace Seminary graduate and former Grace Brethren pastor David Hocking. (www.hopefortoday.org)
Hocking’s website, in reporting on the 2005 prophecy conference, noted, “One of the special events was the recognition of Thomas ‘Ed’ Steele for his untiring labor of love in supporting the Nation of Israel for over 50 years! Ed is the one who writes the articles called ‘Israel Watch’ in our HOPE for TODAY newsletter. A beautiful rare Torah with manuscripts going back into the 6th century AD was presented to him by General Shimon Erem.”
