Operation Barnabas, a summer teen discipleship ministry of CE National, is ministering in churches throughout the midwest and east coast. Yesterday, the Marion (Ohio) Star reported on activities of the Buckeye Team, which is partnering with the Grace Brethren Church in Marion (John Jones, pastor). Below is a portion of the story. Youth outreach group visits Marion, shares gospel
MARION – Sometimes folks just need a little bit of encouragement.
Providing encouragement to people is one of the goals of Operation Barnabas, a three-week summer missionary project for teenagers sponsored by the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches, a Christian denomination based in Winona Lake, Indiana. The outreach is part of CE National, the denomination’s church effectiveness program designed “to be a catalyst for all believers to be trained and mobilized to be ‘On Mission.'”
Each summer, teens who participate in the program are split into two teams and conduct ministry projects with local churches and outreach to children and adults. This year, one team is working in Central Ohio while the other is ministering in Philadelphia and New York City.
Teens with the Operation Barnabas Buckeye Team have been working in Columbus and Central Ohio for the past week and will remain in the area through July 11. Marion County is one of the group’s stops.
“We want to move students to the place where they’re ministry-minded, where they’re thinking outwardly and thinking about other people,” said Dave Nicodemus, leader of the Buckeye Team.
