Fire Engulfs School Bus
The Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company responded to fire that had consumed a school bus at approximately 4:13 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.
According to Fire Chief Randy Acker, the driver of the Leidy Transport bus for the Spring Cove School District was on his way to the district’s garage – at the corner of Cove Mountain Road and Auction Road, outside of Martinsburg – when the bus began to fill with smoke.
The driver managed to pull into the parking lot at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and escape before the fire began. Acker said the fire was the result of a fuel leak.
