Phil Sparling, Charis Fellowship executive director, and Tim Hodge, Charis fellowship coordinator, have issued a joint statement regarding the events of January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol. It is included below and may also be found by clicking here.
As followers of Jesus Christ and leaders within the Charis Fellowship we are personally saddened by the course of events of January 6 at the Capitol Building in Washington D.C.
We boldly endorse our civil freedom to peacefully protest, but just as boldly condemn protesting that crosses the line into lawlessness.
The Word of God instructs us to pray “for all people…for all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Today, as in many recent days, this is more important than ever.
We call upon all who are part of our Charis family to fervently pray that peace would be restored within our land, and call on all followers of Jesus Christ to be people of peace.
For His glory,
Phil Sparling
Charis Fellowship Executive Director
Tim Hodge
Charis Fellowship Coordinator
