Charis is the name adopted by the international fraternity of Grace Brethren churches and leaders. Begun in 1994, Charis serves as a platform for pursuing matters of common purpose and interest for those who share the values of the Grace Brethren movement. Charis is a transliteration of the Greek word for grace.
Delegates from all the countries of Charis will gather in Bangkok on November 1-7, 2015. For the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches-USA those delegates are Clancy Cruise, Keith Minier, and Mike Yoder. The delegate for the FGBC-Canada is Bartley Sawatsky.
The primary purpose of the Charis International Leadership Encounter (CILE) 2015 is to gather key leaders who will consider, improve and endorse The Charis Commitment to Common Identity. This will be the culmination of a three-year effort to create a truly global expression of common values and beliefs of our movement.
A secondary purpose of this event is to receive reports from each country concerning progress in implementing The Charis Commitment to Common Mission (CCCM). Adopted by the delegates of CILE 2008 (Bad Hamburg, Germany), the CCCM serves to focus our regional and international cooperation in the areas of church planting, leadership training, and integrated ministries.
In preparation for this gathering of Charis delegates from all continents in Bangkok, Thailand, we are asking members of our international family of churches to set aside October 14, 2015 as a Day of Prayer and Fasting.
