Grace Brethren Church of Columbus, Ohio, first met in the basement of a Worthington home in 1964 with 15 people in attendance. In 2014, they are celebrating 50 years of multiplying devoted followers of Jesus in the metro Columbus area and beyond through what is now Grace Polaris Church (Mike Yoder, lead pastor).
Next weekend, October 11 and 12, friends of the church are invited to help them look back in celebration and forward in expectation! Saturday evening and Sunday morning events will feature a special visit from Pastor John Willett, an alumni choir and orchestra, commemorative video, ministry displays, food, fellowship, and more! (Click here for more information.)
Check out three videos here that recall the history of the church. In one, Pastor Jim and Triceine Custer recall how God worked in their lives to draw them to the Columbus area to minister. (Pastor Custer led the congregation for more than 30 years.) In the second, Marion Forrest, in whose home the church began, tells about the early days of the church. Finally, Dr. Lester Pifer, who served with Grace Brethren Home Missions, the sponsoring organization, when the church began, recalls an early visit to Columbus. Dr. Pifer now serves the church as Seniors Pastor.
