Assist Church Expansion was formed in 2017 when Nathan Bryant was encouraged to combine his long-time Charis Fellowship church planting initiatives in Canada with efforts in the U.S. They serve churches within the Fellowship through planting, expanding, and revitalizing. In August of 2021, they received National Ministry status during a vote by Charis Fellowship delegates.
“Being recognized as a National Ministry in our Fellowship is an honor. We are grateful to be given this opportunity as we believe it will enable us to work more closely with other leaders and National Ministries in our Fellowship who share the same commitment and hope for our family’s future,” said Executive Director Nathan Bryant.
Nathan leads a team of directors and coaches that are currently working with 32 churches across North America, 19 of those as revitalizations. In September they celebrated Pataskala Grace Church, their first church to complete the two-year revitalization process, with a special Relaunch Sunday service.
Wade Rininger has worked with Assist in Canada and the U.S. He said, “I love being part of what Assist is doing. Working with various churches, pastors, and planters across our Fellowship is exciting and an honor. One of the things I appreciate the most about Assist is that there is not a one size fits all agenda; Assist simply wants to help churches in the mission of making disciples and to help our movement and our family expand until Jesus decides to return!” Wade and his family are currently planting a church in Tampa Bay, Fla., and he works as a coach and trainer
“We believe that having status as a National Ministry is an affirmation of the work we do on behalf of churches in our family,” said Nathan, “and we hope that it gives those churches confidence in our commitment to the Charis Fellowship.”
