Charles Wendell “Chuck” Frost, 90, of Findlay, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2012. Frost was a great help to many Grace Brethren missionaries through his container business.
Gordon Austin, of the Encompass World Partners mission, said, “Most of the staff probably don’t know Chuck, but he was a tremendous blessing to the mission working the container ministry to Africa as well as serving a short term there along with Margaret, his wife. Margaret died in the tragic fire that destroyed their home and the container warehouse two years ago this month.”
Chuck was born on March 1, 1922 to Charles LeRay Frost and Edessa (Conley) in Findlay, Ohio. He married Margaret Stotler on November 22, 1941 and she preceded him in death on November 10, 2010.
Chuck is survived by his children David Frost, Jon Frost, Ann (Ed) Hummon, Marlene (Bill) Barrett, and Jack (Rashea) Frost, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Karen Frost. In addition to his wife of 69 years, Chuck was preceded in death by his son Terry Frost, daughter-in-law Sally Frost, granddaughters Lyn Frost and Jacqueline Hummon, brothers Ken, Max, and Bobby Frost and sisters Helen Clapp, Norma Douglas, and Maxine Hunt.
Chuck was involved with the African Container Ministry and also went as a short-term Missionary to France and Africa. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and received a Purple Heart for combat wounds on the Island of Saipan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Findlay.
In his early years, Chuck worked for the Courier and was self employed as a barber and landscaper. He enjoyed landscaping for Warner Buick for many years. Chuck never met a stranger and always had a twinkle in his eye and a big smile to greet you.
