Hurricane Matthew is making its way up the Florida coast this morning. Encompass’ Crisis Response Network is being initiated. Grace Brethren churches in Florida have made provisions for the storm. Here are few notes yesterday from around the FGBC.
From Encompass World Partners
As Hurricane Matthew continues its destructive path, Encompass’ Crisis Response Network is gearing up to help provide emergency relief.
Working with partners and local churches in the Bahamas, Haiti, Cuba and Florida, we will serve needs as only the Church can, meeting physical (shelter and food), emotional (trauma) and spiritual needs of people left in the wake of Matthew’s devastation.
From Grace Church, Ocala, Fla. (Todd McQueen, pastor)
Thank you for your prayers and taking the time to illustrate your concern. Obviously Ocala is fairly far inland and we are not perceiving a disastrous threat at this time.
From Grace Church, Sebring, Fla. (Randy Smith, pastor)
GCBI (Great Commission Bible Institute) students have left the dorms for the block and mortar buildings on Grace Church main campus. They are beginning their “Night of the storm” party watching it pass by. Many families have been checked on and we are now playing the waiting game. Thanks for praying and caring.
Breathe Partners (CPR-3), Dan O’Deens, executive director
Breathe Partners will assess and keep our eyes open first to the needs in our communities and then we will turn our attention to the more devastated areas in collaboration with other NGO’s. Please know that 100% of your donations are impacting the people whose lives have been upended. Your generosity is huge. Breathe Partners is committed to buying as much locally as we can to equally support local economy. (from Facebook, October 6)
THANK YOU for helping during this hurricane. So proud of our small and hard working ‘young lights’ leaders and our mission and Compassion Corp staff. Thankful for two church Grace Bath and Movement Church who have been flexible and working hard to adjust flight and personal schedules to still get to Haiti in the aftermath of a horrible storm. Grace Bath arrived safely at the Breathe Center in Haiti and Movement arrives on Sunday. (from Facebook, October 6)
Suntree Grace, Melbourne, Fla. (Jason Brown, senior pastor)
Every person in our entire church family have been accounted for (thru FB, texts, phone calls) – Thank you, Lord! Thanks to Encompass World Partners & SEEDNet who are ready to drive all the way down to FL to offer whatever help needed in the wake of the storm. (posted to Facebook, 9 a.m., October 7)
