At least 35 Charis churches reside in the impact zone of Hurricane Florence, slated to make landfall on Friday, September 14. Encompass Crisis Response and the Charis Fellowship are standing ready to help with preparations for the storm’s arrival or in the aftermath.
Barb Wooler, director of crisis response for Encompass World Partners, has contacted many of those churches and offered assistance for helping prepare for the storm or help with recovery after the storm. “Many churches in the fellowship are ready to come alongside and help. You are not alone,” she said.
“We know that our Lord, who governs the wind and the waves, is powerfully at work in these days…and people are listening,” she added. “Consider us, your Charis Fellowship family, potential partners should the Lord open opportunities to serve your community. This could be helping with clean up, home repairs, distributing gift cards or food, shelter, or myriad other ways.”
Your generous help is needed to resource this response with:
- Prayer – even as we know God can redeem good out of anything, please pray that this hurricane will divert and die out at sea. Pray as well for all in harm’s way, especially for the Charis family of churches in the impact zone.
- Money – donations to purchase gift cards, building materials, food/water, etc. (Click here to make a donation that will be used to assist Charis Fellowship congregations and people with storm recovery.)
- Teams and workers – it is too early to tell what and where the needs will be, but people could be standing in the wings ready to deploy to help with clean up and repairs.
