David J. Schwan
June 6, 1930 – April 22, 2011
David J. Schwan, 80, of Willard, Ohio, died Friday at Willard Mercy Hospital. He was born June 6, 1930 in Willard the son of Dr. George and Florence (Korb) Schwan.
He was a 1948 graduate of Willard High School. He later married Janice Kraft Schwan June 4, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington. He worked at the local dairy for 12 years and R.R. Donnelly & Sons Co. for 30 years as a printer. David was a member of the Willard First United Methodist Church, the Willard Conservation League, and the NRA. He liked hunting groundhogs, fishing, sharpening knives, and reloading ammunition. Mr. Schwan was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed going to his grandkids’ and great grandkids’ sporting events. He also loved fixing things and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice Schwan of Willard; daughter, Jenny (David) Kegley of Willard; sons, David M. (Becky) Schwan of England, Steven C. (Valerie) Schwan of Roswell, GA, Christopher B. (Pamela) Schwan of Willard; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and sister, Louise Wiseley of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Daniel Schwan.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 25 from 2-4 & 6-8PM at Lindsey-Kocher
Funeral Service, 323 Myrtle Ave, Willard. Funeral services will be Tuesday,
April 26 at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Willard with Rev. Doug Beggs officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Willard Conservation League.
