Worship on wheels: Drive-in churches offer sense of community on Easter
Grace Community Church was offering streaming video even before the coronavirus pandemic, and they’ve broadened their access to this outlet since mid-March, Tiffin Campus Pastor Zach Pinkerton said. But it was an interest in finding “a way that we can still do church together, but in a safe way,” that led them to Rod and Donna Saunders at the Tiffin Drive-In Theater.
The couple said they’re unable to run movies at the Tiffin Drive-In, as well as at their Field of Dreams Drive-In in Liberty Center, because of a state mandate specifically shuttering movie theaters. But they’re letting the church use their lot and radio transmitter free of charge.
Grace Community Church hosted its first service on April 5, and plans to worship there again at 9 and 10:30 a.m. on Easter.
