First day of school marks new beginning for Dugger Union
DUGGER, Ind. (WTHI) – Tuesday not only marked the first day of school, but a new beginning for the Dugger Union community.
“It is a very humbling experience today,” said Ross Martin, principal.
Dugger Union is now operating under a charter through Grace College. On Tuesday morning, the written contract was signed in front of students.
Martin and his staff have been hard at work during the summer. The school had up until Aug. 11 to meet all requirements on a rubric given to them by Grace College.
Requirements on the rubric included necessary inspections of the facility, proper staffing, full curriculums, special needs availability and other components. Martin said Dugger Union completed the rubric two weeks ago.
