Janine Lansing recently released her first book, The Joy Filled Soul. Drawn from her own life experiences, she guides readers through finding Jesus and embracing the joy that can only be found in Him.
Janine accepted Christ in her heart when she was in Kindergarten. “I was raised in a Christian home, attended a Christian school, and had Christian friends,” she said. It wasn’t until she was older that she fully grasped the concept of a relationship with Christ. She served at a Christian camp in junior high and high school where she “was taught to work really hard for the joy of serving.” She also had a mentor who taught her how to study the scripture and embrace the truth found there. When she was in her late 20s, she participated in a Bible study that transformed her heart and shaped her life. “I finally understood what it meant to abide in Jesus and how he uses scripture to renew our minds.”
Several years ago, Janine had an experience with personal conflict that impacted the joy she was feeling in her life. “I had always been a joyful person. But I found I had lost all joy,” she recounted. She knew this was not a place she wanted to be.
“The Lord used a Bible study to lead me to a place of forgiveness. Through obedience to His Word, my joy came back.”
In The Joy Filled Soul, Janine uses her experience to help others. As Janine spent time in God’s Word, she came to understand that joy was not circumstantial. Joy is not a choice, but rather comes out of our choices. If we choose Jesus, our joy will overflow from his presence in our hearts. “Choosing to get into God’s word causes our joy to overflow regardless of the situation we’re in.”
The Joy Filled Soul is written in a manner that provokes thoughts and responses throughout. It is designed for women of any age to read it either individually or in a small group. Janine is currently working on a follow up study that will dive deeper into the material. The study will accompany the book and walk readers through the application of finding joy by focusing on Jesus and getting into the Bible.
This is Janine’s first published book. Although she has contributed an article to Women of Grace USA, she did not consider herself a writer. “The Lord kept waking me up at 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning with these thoughts, and I had to write them down.”
Janine has a heart for ministering to women through Bible study, coaching, and speaking. She speaks at mom’s groups and women’s retreats, both virtually and in-person. She also has a Facebook group, “Bring the Word to Life,” where she leads women in studying and memorizing a passage of scripture. Monday through Friday she posts verses and encouragement, with live teaching on the passage on Fridays.
“My passion is to help women live in the Spirit, linger with Jesus, and love God’s word. That’s where we transform into the likeness of Christ.”
Janine and her husband, Tim, live in the Los Angeles area with their four kids. Tim is the director at Momentum Urban Center L.A. Both Janine and Tim grew up in California and have spent much of their lives serving the Lord. They attend Grace Brethren Church of Norwalk (Roy Halberg, interim pastor). Pray for their family as they continue to serve the Lord as He leads.
