The Miriam Fire in Washington state has continued to grow as campers and staff at Clear Lake Grace Brethren Camp near Whites Pass ski area were evacuated earlier this week due to the fire.
The Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management issued this report this morning on their Facebook page, along with the image at right. The Grace Brethren camp is located within the Level 3 evacuation area.
New Level 3 “GO!” Evacuation Orders have been given for the area west of Silver Beach Resort and Level 2 “Be Set” Evacuation Orders have been given to Silver Beach Resort. These changes come after fire activity increased and long range fire spotting occurred around a mile away from the location of the fire. Authorities are in the area delivering the evacuation notices.
Refer to the image below (red = Level 3 Evacs and yellow = Level 2 Evacs) for information on the location of evacuation levels.
Meanwhile, Yakima, Wash., media is reporting that the fire is not contained due to lack of resources, because of other fires in the western U.S.
