On Friday, July 20, Ron Sheranko, associate pastor of First Grace Brethren Church in Dayton, Ohio, will lead a team of eight to Sumy, Ukraine, to assist at a church camp for teenage orphans from the Sumy community and from the church which owns the camp. Not only have most of the team members raised their full support, but also enough money has come in to sponsor more than 100 kids to be able to attend the camp. God’s people have been so gracious.
The camp will last for 10 days. The team will return on Thursday, August 2. Pray for the team as final preparations are being made, for safety, and for God to do amazing things in the lives of the kids as well as the lives of our team. Team members are Pastor Sheranko, Terry Essex, Tatiana Essex (she was adopted from one of the orphanages and attended this camp), Adriel Kong, Denise Hays, Lauren Bowen, all from First Grace, and Jack and Hannah Hergenrather, from Grace Community Church, the Grace Brethren church in Huber Heights, Ohio.
In addition, First Grace is planning the following outreach events during the next several months and asked for your prayers that God would bring new families and that lives would be changed for eternity.
Kids Club takes place on Wednesdays during the month of June. The theme is “In God We Trust” and children will learn to be good stewards of what God has given them.
Soccer Camp takes place June 25-29, in the morning for boys and girls, ages six to 12. Coach Roy Danielian and several players from the Grace College soccer program will be leading it this year. Last year just over 100 students attended.
Sunday, July 1, will be Biker’s Sunday. Vic Young, pastor at Fountain of Life Bible Church, a Grace Brethren church in Johnson City, Tenn., will be the guest speaker.
Pastor Sheranko says, “We are excited about stepping out of our comfort zones and reaching out to different segments of our community who need to hear about Jesus.”
