Dr. Chuck Davis, Executive Director of Caribbean Vision Ministries and a longtime leader of the Grace Brethren ministries in Haiti has responded to requests for information:
Our GO2Haiti Team returned from Haiti on Sunday. Pastor Elysee Joseph remained in the country. The preliminary report from Elysee Joseph is that he is OK and that Cap Haitian appears to have escaped major damage from the quake but Port Au Prince has suffered major damage.
We have had no communication with anyone in Port Au Prince. Elysee was scheduled to be there yesterday but his flight from CAP was canceled prior to the quake. I will keep you informed as I gather news. Have your folks praying for Haiti.
Davis said, “I don’t have any [information] at this time except for the news channels and on the web. We had email with Elysee Joseph yesterday but have nothing today. He is in the Cap Haitien area which suffered little damage. We have a ministry friend (Haitian) who has a large ministry in Port Au Prince where our team stayed last Saturday night. We have no contact with him at this time.”
An announcement from Relief Agency Brethren about how to help quake victims is expected later today and will be posted when available.
