On Monday, June 4, the Flora Grace Brethren Church (Indiana) began its first Vacation Bible School in several years. The theme is “Water Works: Riding the Wave of God’s Love.” All of the stories, skits, snacks, and crafts utilize Bible stories involving water.
Eight children from ages four through eight attended the first evening’s program. Three of these children were from the neighborhood. Church members are praying that these kids will bring their friends tomorrow and over the next few days. Pastor Jim Franklin plans to follow-up the neighborhood families next week.
Pictured is Teaha Miller, 8, of Flora. Teaha is the niece of Duane Overholser, who is well-known from his work with Grace Brethren Boys. She holds a snack illustrating the Bible lesson. The blue jello represents water. Three bear-shaped graham crackers are attached to a large graham cracker with chocolate icing. This represents the Israelites crossing the Red Sea on dry ground.
