GraceConnect heard from some of the Grace Brethren pastors in Florida this morning after Hurricane Irma came ashore south of Fort Myers and created a path through Orlando. Here are some of the updates.
It’s Monday morning. At this point, everyone is reporting they’re ok. There have been some folks with roof damage and reported throughout the night having to deal with leaking roofs. There are only a few working traffic lights. They’ve closed all bridges to the island due to power lines & just as a safety measure. They’ve asked that people stay off the roads (for safety & to discourage looters). We experienced flooding on the mainland of Melbourne and had to pull cars up close to the house (the waters were reaching up to our car doors). From our folks there are a whole lot of praises. We know not everyone has been as fortunate. We continue to ask the Lord (especially now) for opportunities to display His church, and His grace to our communities. This morning has been a time of praise that the storm is over and our God is Great! — Jason Brown, Suntree Grace Brethren Church, Melbourne, Fla.

POST HURRICANE UPDATE: First of all we are all safe. Praise the Lord! Sebring took a direct hit from the eastern eye wall of the storm (the strongest part) late last night and we are just getting word about damage throughout the county. We are all without power and some without water but all in all our buildings held up. Just to be safe we are staying put where we are for most of the day to allow the roads to be cleared of debris, downed trees and power lines. Next we will begin the clean up process and helping the hurting and in need throughout our sweet city. Please continue to pray for all of Florida! — Great Commission Bible Institute, Sebring, Fla.

Both Ft Myers church building made it through the storm without damage. We have no damage at our house and Pastor Steve does not appear to have damage at his house.
All if the members of Friendship GBC are accounted for and are fine. No significant damage. Most have no power but all is good.
