The new football team at Worthington Christian High School, a ministry of Grace Polaris Church on the north side of Columbus, Ohio (Mike Yoder, pastor), is the topic of an article in a recent This Week/Worthington News. A portion of the story appears below. Click here for the complete article.
Worthington Christian prepares for inaugural season

Coach Brian Stier talks to his team during practice Aug. 4. The Worthington Christian High School Warriors are preparing for their first season of varsity football.
Although rain forced it to slightly alter its schedule, nothing could dampen what the Worthington Christian High School football team experienced Aug. 1.
When they weren’t sloshing on a slightly muddy practice field at Worthington Christian Middle School, the Warriors looked just like any other team on the first day of official coaching allowed by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
There were coaches talking about their vision for the season, plenty of drilling and even some light hitting.
It was a day unlike no other thus far for the Warriors, though, considering they are competing in varsity football for the first time.
“We were in the weight room all summer, but I was excited to have this day,” senior Nick Grant said. “(Our coaches) basically just told us, ‘This is what you work for.'”
Worthington Christian’s first scrimmage is 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Centennial. It then will play host to Hudson Western Reserve Academy at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in the preseason.
