Former Geneva women’s basketball coach Lori Wynn dies after battle with ovarian cancer
Former Geneva women’s basketball coach Lori Wynn, who shared her battle with ovarian cancer with the public over the past couple of years, has died after a recurrence of the disease.
Former Geneva College women’s basketball coach Lori Wynn has died after a prolonged battle with ovarian cancer.
A 1992 graduate of Houghton College, Wynn spent 26 years as a college basketball coach and was hired as the head coach at Geneva in 2011 after head coaching stints at Malone University in Ohio, Grace College in Indiana, and Nyack College in New York.
In June 2016, she was diagnosed with cancer and temporarily returned to her parents’ home in North Carolina.
She was optimistic about her prognosis in an interview with the Times in November 2016.
“Cancer survivors remind you that even though it seems like a very long, hard process, when you’re done it’s just going to be a bump in the road,” Wynn said at the time.
