Services were held Monday, June 3, in Kenai, Alaska, for Earl and Lynda Moore. Earl most recently served as the pastor of the Grace Brethren Church in Kenai, Alaska, but also led several other congregations in the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches.
Their obituary appears below.
Earl and Lynda Moore, longtime married couple and residents of the Kenai and Soldotna area, both went home to be with their Lord on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.
Lynda Faye (Trogdon) Moore was born Dec. 7, 1946 in Ohio, where as a teenager she met her future husband as he was visiting relatives, who happened to be her neighbor. She lived in Florida for many years, where she started a family. She was a homemaker and mother for many years, but also worked later for the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Department (Florida), then worked as a legal secretary and ultimately had a long career as a paralegal. She enjoyed serving Christ in many ways and in particular by her singing in church. She was a truly selfless and soft hearted lady who exhibited a loving nature. She was an exceptional cook and host and fed many people. Her hobbies included sewing and crocheting, and she won awards for her crocheting.
Earl Dean Moore was born Aug. 15, 1943 in Eastern Kentucky in a log cabin, where he learned good values and a strong work ethic from a family of Irish descent who knew the Lord. He was a graduate of Rittman High School in Ohio and Florida Bible College. He was a State Trooper and Homicide Investigator for the Florida Highway Patrol for many years as a young man, but left that vocation to serve the Lord as a pastor, which he spent most of his life doing until his death. He was blessed with exceptional insight into the Bible, which served his congregation and family well. He enjoyed fishing. He was known for his sense of humor and good natured teasing style.
Both Earl and Lynda focused their lives on our Savior Jesus Christ, and they would want all to know the joy of salvation. Pastor Moore’s last Facebook post was II Corinthians 1:3-4: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
Earl and Lynda are survived by their two Golden Retrievers, Beau and Luke; son, Bret Moore; daughters, Terry Griffin and Tricia Cooper; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
