Frances V. Gordon, 95, who along with her late husband, Robert, was a major benefactor of Grace College and Seminary, went to be with the Lord Monday, June 12 at Grace Village Assisted Living in Winona Lake, Indiana. Mrs. Gordon is the mother of Grace College business professor Bill Gordon.
Mrs. Gordon and her husband, Robert, who died November 16, 2004, at age 93, were faithful friends of Grace and generous donors to the campus for many years. They donated fund to purchase the former Sofamor Danek building in Winona Lake (pictured here) which was dedicated as the school’s $3 million new fitness and recreational center in October of 2003.
The Gordons had also earlier given a $1.5 million donation toward the restoration of Westminster Hall, formerly the Westminster Hotel.
Mrs. Gordon was born in Sidell, Illinois, and was a resident of Clark County, Ohio, for more than 60 years. The Gordons moved to Winona Lake about six years ago, where they attended Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church.
Surviving are a son, William (and wife Carole) Gordon, Winona Lake; two daughters, Jane Cook, Winona Lake, and Mrs. Marlin (Sally) Brallier, Alexandria, Minnesota; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three brothers; and three sisters. She was preceded in death by a son, David Gordon.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Bible Church, Springfield, Ohio. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle, Ohio. Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
