FREMONT – Grace Community Church members have been paying it forward for Christmas, with the church starting its first “You’ve Been Gifted” campaign to bring happiness to community residents through small acts of generosity.
The church started the campaign Nov. 30, when Pastor Kevin Pinkerton urged members to pick up You’ve Been Gifted cards and help their neighbors and area residents during the holiday season with an unexpected gift. The members included the cards, which asked people to accept the gifts as an expression of God’s love for them, with their gifts.
Pinkerton said Sunday that he had heard about the program through another pastor who had implemented it at his church.
“We’re just trying to impact the community and having fun doing it,” Pinkerton said.
The Grace pastor shared stories at the church’s 10 a.m. service Sunday about members paying the balance of bills at Wal-Mart for shoppers and helping with gas bills for home heating in recent weeks.
