Gateway Church, a Grace Brethren congregation in Parkesburg, Pa., is reaching out to their community in the wake to two tragedies.
The church, located at 160 Cowan Rd, Parkesburg PA, 19365, will be open tonight (Friday, November 7) from 7:00 -7:30 p.m. for a candlelit prayer gathering to support all who are hurting in their county. All who need comfort, all who can provide comfort, are invited.
This week, their area has seen two deadly events. On Monday, 41-year-old Jacinda Miller, a fitness instructor at the local YMCA, was shot by 42-year-old Dennis Cassel, who is described as Miller’s estranged boyfriend. He then killed himself. Miller attended Gateway Church with her two young sons. Dan O’Deens, founding pastor of Gateway who now leads CPR-3, is officiating at her funeral. (Click here to learn more.)
On Tuesday, a three-year-old boy was beaten and killed by his mother and her boyfriend after he wouldn’t eat his breakfast. (Learn more here.) Several “first responders” who attend Gateway Church were among the first to arrive on the scene.
