Word has been received of the death in Anaheim, California, of Phoebe O’Neal, widow of the late Dr. Glenn O’Neal, Grace Brethren pastor, author, and educator.
Mrs. O’Neal’s daughter, Donna Speer, reported, “Our wonderful mom took her last breath this morning, June 11, 2012, at 3:50 a.m. peacefully and quietly. While we grieve her homegoing, we are glad that she is home with her dear Lord Jesus.”
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at the chapel at First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton, California. If a fuller obituary is obtained, it will be posted here.

Mrs. O’Neal’s husband, Dr. Glenn F. O’Neal (1919-1985) was the dean of Talbot Theological Seminary. He was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Grace Theological Seminary; the University of California at Santa Barbara; and received M.A. and Ph.D degrees from the University of Southern California, majoring in speech.
He served for 21 years in the pastorate, and began teaching at Talbot in 1952. In 1961, he was appointed professor and chairman of the Practical Theology Department. He also served on the board of trustees of the Foreign Missionary Society of the Brethren Church and of Grace Theological Seminary. He is the author of “Make the Bible Live,” published by BMH Books of Winona Lake, Indiana.
