Here is a report from Steve Galegor, Jr. who works with the Albanian population in northern New Jersey/Staten Island:
“Everyone is edgy and food and gas are getting tough to find. Traffic is a nightmare all around. It is going to be this way for a few more days.
Of all the city, Staten Island where we used to live is very badly damaged and people are hurting. We have many Albanian contacts there who were in the A evacuation zone. I haven’t heard from many, but keep them in prayer. Just about every part of life is extra tough right now.
I was in lower Manhattan yesterday and it seems like another world without power down past 23rd St. A fist fight broke out on the bus we were riding uptown as it was the only way to travel and not enough room for all waiting to get on. The city really needs grace right now.”
