On Sunday night, Grace Community Church, a Charis Fellowship congregation in Goshen, Ind. (Jim Brown, senior pastor), was celebrating the graduation of their most recent Fight Club class. They also wanted to bless someone in the community, so they ordered a pizza and took up a collection to tip the driver who delivered it. When Ashley Wood showed up with the pizza, she was stunned when she was asked to meet the pastor on stage, where she was presented with the tip. The Goshen News told the story on Monday. Church surprises driver with $3,700 tip
God may work in mysterious ways, according to the old adage, but the head of a local church believes God clearly answered prayers to the benefit of a Goshen woman.
Ashley Wood, a Papa John’s pizza delivery driver, went to Grace Community Church on the pretense of bringing members a pizza Sunday night. She had no idea the congregation of hundreds of members had a special delivery for her: A tip for $3,723.
Cash.
“Just complete shock because it’s happening right before Christmas,” Wood said. “I was in tears all night.”
“Of all the people in Goshen, God wanted you to have this money,” said Jim Brown, pastor of Grace Community, firm in his faith God directed Wood to the church. “I believe he wanted her. He selected her.”
“I’m very grateful and very thankful for it,” was Wood’s message to Grace Community Monday.
Wood, who is approaching her four-year anniversary with Papa John’s in February, is also about six months pregnant, due to give birth to her fifth child the same month.
When she walked into the church at 20076 C.R. 36, Goshen, she was needing to pay auto insurance and rent and worried about how her children would celebrate Christmas this year.
In one gesture, those particular concerns are gone. Those bills are paid, she said.

Goshen congregation surprises delivery driver with unbelievable tip
A northern Indiana pizza delivery driver is going to be able to give her children a very merry Christmas thanks to the generosity of a church’s congregation.
According to our partners at The Goshen News, the Grace Community Church in Goshen ordered pizza to celebrate the graduation ceremony for the church’s men’s ministry and discipleship course Sunday night, collecting a large donation to give to the delivery person.
Ashley Wood, a driver for Papa John’s, took the run as she prepared to leave for the night and never expected what was waiting for her.
Wood, the mother of four children with one more on the way, was worried about how she was going to pay for Christmas presents when she was called up to the church’s stage by the pastor, Jim Brown.
“All week long we’d been praying that God would give us a person that we could bless,” Brown told the Goshen News. “We didn’t know who God was going to bring in the door.”
