Grace Brethren earns shot at defending title
The Grace Brethren High girls soccer team wanted to prove it wasn’t just a one-year wonder.
After capturing the CIF-Southern Section Division 7 title last season, the Lancers were intent on defending their title.
They’ll have their shot.
Junior Sammi Fisher had two goals and two assists as top-seeded Grace Brethren rolled to a 4-0 victory over St. Anthony in the Division 7 semifinals Tuesday afternoon at Grace Brethren High.
Grace Brethren (21-4) advances to play Webb in the final on Friday or Saturday at either Downey-Warren High or Corona High.
“Last year everything was new and nobody really knew us. But this year people definitely know us and we have a target on our back,” Fisher said. “It adds even more pressure that everyone wants to beat us even more. But it also gives us more motivation.”
