The second stop of the Momentum on the Road conference was held at Grace Church of Greater Akron – Bath Campus, where Momentum Ministry Partners’ President Jeff Bogue is the senior pastor. Similar to the first conference in Lititz, Pa., nearly 300 students participated in a 36-hour conference with speakers, worship, specialized training tracks, as well as afternoon sports, games, and crafts. Below are a few photo highlights.
Jim Brown, lead pastor of Grace Community Church in Goshen, Ind., spoke 1 John 2:15–17, emphasizing the idea that “Your home is in heaven when you know Christ.”
“I’ve really enjoyed the power tracks the most,” said Cara, a student from Grace Church – Bath Campus. “I feel like they went a lot deeper in concepts I hadn’t really thought about before or in a long time. I went to the one that was about hard things in the bible. We got a broad overview of it but some personal applications, too.”
Pastors and ministry leaders spoke in various power tracks on topics like Understanding the Hard Parts of the Bible, What I want my Son/Daughter to Know, Feeling Called to Full-Time Ministry, Now What?, and a Q & A about sexual identity.
In the afternoon, students had several hours of free time. Karaoke, led by Momentum emcees Dave Nicodemus and Dayne Carraway, was a huge hit among both students and leaders. Three first-time attenders, who sang Tearing up my Heart, commented that karaoke was one of the best parts of the day and they enjoyed getting out of their comfort zone. Other crowd favorites were the songs Baby Shark, You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful, The Climb, Somebody to Love, and numerous Disney hits.
Other activities available were board and card games, Kahoot trivia, basketball, 9-square, corn hole, and hantis. Gabe, a student from Grace Church – Bath Campus, said, “The best part has been getting to hang out with friends and play basketball and share Christ. I’ve been [to Momentum] twice before, so I wanted to come back to stay in Christian community and learn more.”
Students also had time to engage with vendors from various ministries such as G.R.O.W., Encompass World Partners, Momentum Urban Centers, Word of Life Bible Institute, and Grace College.
A mixture of energy-infused dance anthems and intimate moments with Jesus, worship during each main session was a highlight for most students. Two students from Grace Church – Medina East Campus, Keren and Elaynah, commented that worship has been the best part. Kyle, a student from Grace Church – Bath Campus, said, “It’s been so cool to see everyone worshipping together with their hands raised toward God.”
Momentum on the Road will be in Columbus, Ohio, this weekend and will close out its four-stop tour in Goshen, Ind., early next week. Continue to pray for the speakers, leaders, volunteers, staff, and students and follow along with photos from the conferences here.
